THE VINEYARD

From Walnuts to Wine.

Before the vines, the land was a walnut farm. A few of those original trees remain on the property,
offering a quiet nod to the vineyard’s past.

Once the land was cleared and prepared, the first vines were planted in 2007.

Key Milestones

2021

15 acres of dry-farmed, head-pruned vines of zinfandel, petite sirah & cabernet planted

First small harvest, a mere 5 years after we started... did I mention that vineyards require patience?

Planted 6 additional acres, adding tempranillo and grenache to the mix

We started our first small label... TreSon to bring our wonderful product into Michigan!

We began to adjust the mix by grafting over some of the original zinfandel vines to cabernet,
petite & tempranillo

We finally become Certified Organic!

Making 4hearts Wine Special

Begins with the planting and utilizing the "dry farming" technique.
As Steve, our original vineyard manager, likes to say,
starting 4hearts was the creation of “a new day in the old way.”

Simply put, dry farming a vineyard is old school...
Farming without irrigation and you are at the mercy of Mother Nature.
